Where to begin?

Wow, the last month is really a blur! You know how they say having a baby changes everything? It does, and then the baby grows into a toddler and flips everything on it's head. Almost a month ago, my son snuck something into our oven's broiler drawer and before we knew it, we had a full-fledged household mess on our hand.

The oven and microwave were toast and our whole house needed a thorough cleaning handled by Service Masters.
My son and I also spent a lot of time in relegated to our bedroom, staying out of every one's way. It made me realize our room really needed some attention.

I found some nice vintage J.L. Prevost prints at the local thrift store. He was a famous artist of the late 1700s, who is known his botany inspired work. I wish they were originals, because then I'd be in the money!

I got some new bedding and created a headboard, upholstering an old dividing screen I had. I'm calling the look "Grandma Chic."

Our cat Oliver decided to "help" the cleaners by climbing their ladder.

I also found these great lamps at two different thrift stores and thought they worked very well together, they now flank our couch. They just needed some new paint on the base and some new drum shades to look totally awesome.

If you look past Buddy, you can see my most recent chair redo. I redid it to match my dining room chairs. It sits in the corner now, waiting for a dinner guest. We have a new oven now and a clean house, so maybe I'll have dinner party. (NOT LIKELY)

I added some silk fabric to the back of my china cabinet to give it some life and have some glass shelves on the way!

One of my favorite finds of the past month was this beautiful painting. I'm very intrigued by it. It depicts boats approaching a shore with very unusual buildings and there is a volcano going off the right of the picture. It makes me think Hawaii, but the buildings don't really look Hawaiian at all.

The painting has actually been quite disruptive ... I had to put it over our fireplace because I loved it so much, causing me to have find a new home for the painting that formerly filled that space(which I also love), and that left two charming bird prints without a home. (I'm running out of walls)

Whewww! What a month!

Small household emergency

A small household emergency has forced me to close Paddywack Designs for a few weeks. It's nothing serious, but it's been so disruptive I didn't feel I could give Paddywack the proper attention. Still, I'm always game for an ugly chair and I nearly did cartwheels when I saw this one.
Granted it's not really ugly, beside the seat. I just love it! I actually plan on keeping it for myself and redoing it with the red fabric so it will match my other dining room chairs, which are also maple.
I can't wait until things calm down and I can have my staple gun back in hand.
